Practise Toki Pona in two ways. The vocab drill covers all 131 core words, three ways: in Latin letters, in sitelen pona glyphs, and by ear. The grammar drill has nine tracks — the core sentence with li and e, la, prepositions, commands with o, questions and negation, numbers, pre-verbs, ni: clauses, and names — each built from short concepts with a reference to read before you start. Every concept starts as multiple choice and moves on to typing whole sentences.
Fourteen letters — a e i o u and j k l m n p s t w — each with exactly one sound, so nothing is ever spelled two ways or read two ways. j is English y (jan is yan), and the vowels are pure: ah eh ee oh oo.
Stress is always on the first syllable, in every word: to·ki, pa·na, ke·pe·ken.
sitelen pona, the glyph writing, is a logography, not an alphabet: each glyph stands for a whole word, not a sound, so there is nothing to sound out — you know the glyph or you don't, the way you know & or 7. Many are pictures of what they mean: the glyph for eye is an eye, the glyph for person is a head and shoulders. About 130 of them cover the whole language. Try them in the sitelen pona writer.
